Uttarakhand’s best winter treks – Top 10

Winter is always unique in Uttarakhand, with its majestic peaks and abundant snowfall in the top and lower ranges of the Himalayas making hikers a pleasure. Uttarakhand is a Himalayan state located in the western range of the huge Himalayas. It offers a broad variety of winter trekkers. Uttarakhand has everything from simple level to hard. We have several hundred winter walks in Uttarakhand, but the selection of the few is less attractive, and we have merely chosen them for ordinary amateur, or new winter walkers who wish to experience winter trekking in the lap of the Himalayas.

1. Kedarkantha Trek in Winter

Kedarkantha is renowned for being Uttarakhand’s best winter hike. In spite of the fact that it wasn’t well promoted by Uttarakhand tourism, it still receives many tourists and trekkers annually. The Kedarkantha Trail is spectacular and the lake “Juda ka Talab” is also one of Kedarkantha’s campsites in the middle of the walk. This tour is also based in Sankri village, which is noted for its wooden sculptural houses and attractive culture. The village is known as Sankri village. Sanctuary and the Govind National Park are located on Kedakantha Trek and Sankri, which also offer many additional hiking alternatives.

2. Har ki Doon Trek in Winter

Har Ki Dun is renowned for its hiking trail. Har ki doon communities are a terrific place to discover themselves. Every local traveler can be hyped by local temples, wooden houses, and epic culture. The route crosses the thick woodland along a magnificent river and little streams of water. The trek’s long, but less steep, makes it easy to conquer. Har ki Doon saw windfalls during the winter of 2017, in which some people lost their lives, therefore this trip with a competent guide is strongly suggested.

3. Khaliya Top Trek in Winter

The top of Khaliya is also called a Kuliya top or Khuliya Bugyal and may be finished in only a single day during the weekend. It is known for the picturesque hill-station of Munsyari located in the Uttarakhand Kumaon Himalayas. Himalayan peaks from Khuliaya Top are only gorgeous views of snow-capped. 4. Gorson Bugyal Trek in Winter

A valley of verdant meadows, Gorson Bugyal or Bugyal Gorson, with good winter snowfall and some magnificent slopes. This walk is easy to conquer and couples can do this as an adventure on their journey for families who come to Auli. ‘Nanda Devi’ is the tallest peak of India and is the start of the expedition.

5. Dodital Trek Trek in Winter

Dodital is a lovely lake in the middle of large deodar trees. This lake is renowned for being Lord Ganesha’s birthplace. The circuit of the lake is around 1.5 km long and the lake is home to the Himalayan truffle fish.

6. Trek in winter, Brahmatal and Khopariya

The lake is Brahmatal in the Uttarakhand district of Chamoli, dedicated to Hinduism Lord Brahma. The trekking trail takes one of the nicest views of the countryside. You can also choose to tent on the lakeside. This journey, like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and a little vista of the Roopkund lake, has a view of a vast range of the Himalayans.

7. Winter Trek of Ali – Bedni Bugyal

Also in the Uttarakhand district of Chamoli is the Aali Bugyal Trek or Bedni Bugyal Trek. The walk crosses green wilderness with dense oak woods and snow-covered views of the Himalayas such as Trishul and Nanda Devi. However, following the recent ruling of Uttarakhand’s High Court, it is prohibited to stay or camp in buggies in or you may say high pasture fields in the Himalayas, in order to camp there. You can remain outside the range of buggies in Wan village or by the rivers.

8. Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila Trek in Winter

Trekking to Chopta or Tungnath or Chandrashila on the same path, it’s a single journey starting at the Market in Chopta. The walk is full of lush Deodar forest and green wilderness. Chopta is extremely rich in vegetation and a vast range of flora and wildlife can be experienced by you. The temple of Tungnath has a splendid view of Chaukhamba, from which one may see the majesty of Chandrashila’s 360-degree Himalayan panorama. This trek is easy to undertake and you may finish it in one day.

9. Dayara Bugyal Trek in Winter

Dayara Bugyal is the greatest Himalayan meadow and gives travelers a unique natural environment, where the angels live in accordance with local legends. Trek passes through little streams of water, thick forest, and all you suppose to be. Dayara Bugyal, however, takes quite another look in winter, as it continues to be covered with a thick white snow blanket. But even in the cold, it’s worth going to this place.

10. Devariyatal Trek in Winter

Devariyatal commonly known as Deoriyatal is a magnificent lake close to the city of Uttarakhand in Ukhimati. The Chukhambha summit on the lake is visible. Trekking people of all ages may reach this place simply as it is only 2.5 miles away. For the local people, the Lake is highly religious and spiritual, thus it’s a good tourist and doesn’t litter around the lake. The lake devotes itself to the local god of Deoriya nag.
